Archibald and Shorter North Shore partners ‘The Tania Dalton Foundation’ celebrates 5 years.

Tania Dalton Foundation welcomed the arrival of twelve new deserving recipients for its scholarship programme. The 2022 recipients join forty-nine young talented sport women across New Zealand.

The foundation created in honour of the sporting legend, supports young New Zealanders from all circumstances and stages of development to unlock their potential and their best selves.

Our team at Archibald and Shorter North Shore is proud to support the Tania Dalton Foundation and provide support for scholarship receiver Qaizden Stephano for the duration of her scholarship. Qaizden is a Power Forward/Centre that has stood out in age group Basketball at Takapuna Grammar. In 2020 she was invited to attend Junior Tall Ferns Development camps and is currently in the trial process for the NZU19 team that will compete at Asian qualifiers in India later this year.

The Scholarship Programme which honours Tania’s passion for supporting young women in a range of sports she loved and enjoyed. The three year programme provides financial support, mentoring, and personal development workshops to 12 talented and deserving young sports women each year.

Each recipient is paired up with a scholarship partner, who has provided the financial support for the three-year programme. Scholarship partners from previous years have committed to supporting another Tania Dalton scholarship recipient this year.

Founder and husband, Duane Dalton says Tania would be absolutely thrilled with the progress the Foundation has made. Having the chance to see the girls enter the program and then watch them progress through until they graduate is humbling and something Tania would absolutely cherish.

The programme provides girls opportunities to connect with like-minded athletes and with experienced mentors. The mentor and recipient relationship is important as the support goes beyond sport.

The ultimate goal of the programme is for these young women to then ‘pay it forward’ and contribute back to their communities and continue the legacy for future generations. “Given our recent challenges as a society this is an aspect of the programme that really resonates with Tania’s passion. Giving back is often more rewarding than receiving and it's so great to see the girls truly embracing this key pillar in the Foundation's purpose” adds Duane.
